Most billing companies quote a percentage of collections. Two quotes with the same percentage can still cost very different amounts. These questions help you compare like with like.
About the price
- Is the fee on net collections or gross charges? A percentage of gross charges costs far more.
- Is there a monthly minimum? Ask what it is and when it applies.
- What costs extra? Credentialing, patient statements, old A/R clean-up and setup fees are often priced separately.
- How long is the contract, and what does it cost to leave?
About the work
- Who checks eligibility, and when? Problems caught before the visit are the cheapest to fix.
- How are denials handled? Ask whether every denial is worked and appealed, or only the large ones.
- How often is A/R followed up? Unpaid claims get harder to collect the older they get.
About what you can see
- Can I see claims and collections live, or only in a monthly report?
- Will I have one point of contact who knows my practice?
- Will you sign a BAA before you see any patient data?
How we answer them
Our fee is 5% of collections with a $750 monthly floor, month to month, with no setup fees. Every claim, denial and dollar shows up in MDClaim360, free with our billing service, and we sign a BAA before any work begins.
